Building Tomorrow, Together.
I am running for the Tewksbury Board of Education to ensure that every student has access to the resources and opportunities they need to thrive. Our children are not only the future of Tewksbury, but of our society as a whole.
Meet Sandy…
As a twenty five year education professional and dedicated advocate, I am running for the Tewksbury Board of Education to ensure that every student has access to the resources and opportunities needed to thrive. Our children are not only the future of Tewksbury, but of our society as a whole. By investing in their education today, we are building a stronger, more resilient tomorrow. I’m ready to work hard for our students, families, and educators—and I humbly ask for your support on this journey.
My career in education has provided me with a wealth of experience that I hope to utilize in the role as a board member for the Tewksbury Board of Education. As an educator, I began as a first-grade teacher for six years, therein as an Elementary Assistant Principal, and finally as a Middle School Principal, Director of Curriculum & Instruction, and Director of Accountability.
During my tenure as an educator, I earned a Master’s in Education from Kean University, along with a New Jersey School Administrator Certificate of Eligibility, and I am a Certified Wilson Language Instructor. This allowed me the ability to work in an education leadership role and expand upon my classroom positions and my prior employment in accounting and running a small business with my late husband.
Alongside these roles, I managed important district-level responsibilities, including budgeting, Grants Coordinator, Anti-Bullying Coordinator, Testing Coordinator, Homeless Liaison, and Affirmative Action Officer. Each of these roles required close collaboration with the Board of Education. I created and presented state-mandated reports during public BOE sessions, participated in curriculum review discussions, including budgeting, and contributed to committee work. I was also called upon in executive sessions to report on HIB investigations and student hearings. These responsibilities provided me with direct experience in policy development, regulatory compliance, and governance procedures.
In addition to my education experience, community involvement has always been a core value of mine, I have proudly served as a Girl Scout Leader, Boy Scout Leader, CCD teacher, PTO President, and Softball Coach. I am also an active member of NJPSA, Tewksbury Historical Society, Women’s Club of Tewksbury Township, and Deutscher Club of Clark. Now that I am recently retired, I am excited to dedicate even more time and energy to serving the community I call home.
Above all, my most important role is that of a parent. I have been a resident of Hunterdon County for 19 years and a proud Tewksbury resident since 2013. My youngest child graduated from Voorhees High School, and as a parent of four grown children—now established as a Clinical Psychologist, Chef de Cuisine, Product Design Manager, and Civil Engineer—and a grandparent to six. As a parent and educator, I deeply appreciate the role strong schools play in shaping future success.
My prior involvement with the BOE uniquely prepares me to serve as a board member, bringing both the perspective of an experienced educator and the commitment to ensuring that policy decisions remain student-centered, fiscally responsible, and transparent to the community. These combined experiences have given me a well-rounded perspective on the needs of students, families, educators, and the realities of budgeting.
I am passionate about building safe, supportive schools where every child feels empowered to think creatively, solve problems with confidence, and take bold risks. Watching students who once struggled achieve their goals is one of the greatest joys of my career and continues to inspire my leadership in education. With a deep-rooted commitment to our community, my goal is to help create a comprehensive, forward-thinking, and supportive learning environment—one that empowers all students to become innovative thinkers, confident problem-solvers, and bold risk-takers.
If elected, I will:
- Ensure high-quality education for every student in a nurturing, safe, and student-centered environment.
- Advocate for programs that support both academic achievement and personal growth, celebrating student strengths while encouraging continued success.
- Foster a forward-thinking and supportive learning environment that empowers students to become innovative thinkers, confident problem-solvers, and resilient risk-takers.
- Promote fiscal responsibility and transparency in school spending and curriculum decisions, keeping students the top priority in today’s challenging economy.
- Build strong partnerships among parents, teachers, students, and administrators to support the well-being of all children.
- Respect the rights of families and their values while ensuring schools remain positive, inclusive spaces for learning.
- Work to create an environment where every student can thrive, and bring my vision and experience to strengthen our schools.
